The site is located at the corner of Nqadeni and Mendi Streets in New Brighton.
New Brighton is the oldest of the Port Elizabeth Townships and has a proud history of struggle against apartheid.
It has been home to the likes of Raymond Mhlaba, Govan Mbeki, and George Pemba. It continues to be a vibrant and contemporary part of Port Elizabeth.
The site is adjoined by the Emlotheni Memorial which is a striking monument to Vuyisile Mini and five others hanged by the government in the early sixties.
Together with the memorial the proposed buildings create a cultural precinct with continuous activity for both tourists and Port Elizabethans.
