In November 2005 NOH Architects were appointed by the Nelson Mandela Bay Metropolitan Municipality to coordinate the drafting of a Strategic Spatial Framework for the Fountain Road precinct in Gqebera (Walmer Township).
The Pedestrian Improvements project is one of four components, which together form the redevelopment of Fountain Road. It was implemented to better the conditions of the township and with the hope that it will inspire further developments in the future.
The project entailed the construction of the park which included the following:
- Paved walkways
- Planting of trees
- Pedestrian crossings
- Electrical lighting
