The Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University (NMMU) came into being in January 2005 as a result of the merger of the University of Gqeberha (that had previously incorporated the PE campus of Vista University in 2004) and the Gqeberha Technikon. Due to the need to upgrade existing buildings, construct new buildings, alter building’s functions and provide accessibility solutions to the campus, the masterplan of the NMMU Missionvale Campus had to be updated. This allowed for the opportunity to alter the identity from the former Vista Campus to the new NMMU Missionvale Campus.
