Moondance House is one of noh’s early houses: a family home set against the mountains above Gordon’s Bay.
The house is built in painted face brick, finished in a bold burnt orange and offset by grey-painted details – a curved garden wall, slot and triangular windows, and a freestanding column. The roofs are expressed as light, lean-to planes carried on exposed timber rafters and diagonal struts, and a timber verandah with a balcony above, supported on brick piers, runs along the garden side.
Tall, gridded timber windows rise the full height of the house, drawing daylight deep into the living spaces and giving the solid brick walls a strong vertical rhythm.
